- Stay rule (Sept 2026)Published
- No stay is required to keep the Global Talent leave to remain itself - there is no minimum-presence condition on the grant. The only presence rule is the separate settlement (ILR) continuous-residence test, which requires absences of no more than 180 days in any rolling 12 months during the 3-5 year qualifying period before applying for permanent residence; that period-to-PR detail, not a keep-status rule, so it is not counted here.
- Tax residency rulePublished
- Residents staying more than 183 days per year will be considered tax residents

Risks, limitations, and uncertainty
Notes on changes, conflicts, and limits.
- Plan B note (Sept 2026)Published
- One of the very few skilled-talent routes with no employer sponsor, no minimum salary and no maintenance-funds requirement at all - eligibility rests entirely on endorsed achievement or a qualifying prize. No presence is needed to keep the leave itself. Absences over 180 days in any rolling year only affect the separate ILR settlement clock (3 years for Exceptional Talent/prestigious prize, 5 years for Exceptional Promise), and extension/settlement instead require evidence of UK earnings in the endorsed field rather than a fixed income figure.
