Risks, limitations, and uncertainty
Notes on changes, conflicts, and limits.
- Investment note (Sept 2026)Published
- The property threshold for the short-term permit went from USD 100,000 to USD 150,000 on 1 March 2026. Several properties can be combined. The permit can be revoked if the property is sold or its value falls below the threshold. The USD 150,000 permit does not lead to indefinite residence on its own.
- Plan B note (Sept 2026)Published
- Two tiers: USD 150,000 property gives a 1-year renewable permit with no route to indefinite residence; USD 300,000 (business or property) gives a 5-year permit that converts to indefinite residence after 5 years if the property is kept or turnover targets are met. Naturalisation requires 10 years of residence plus language, history and law exams; Georgia generally does not allow dual citizenship. A competitor figure of 275 days' stay was not found in any official source.
