- No minimum days, but renewal is refused after more than 6 continuous months away from Italy (Art. 13(4) DPR 394/1999), unless for serious documented reasons. The 1-year permit renews yearly at the Questura while the conditions still hold. Living in Italy 183+ days makes you an Italian tax resident, which is not a condition for keeping the permit.
