Not a published 'independent means' program: third-country nationals get a non-working permit only if the state finds them of special interest, and grants are rare and discretionary. The EEA/Swiss lottery (about 8 non-working permits a year) is not open to third-country nationals. The CHF 156,000 guarantee is a bank guarantee, not an investment. Settlement permit after 5 years of uninterrupted residence; ordinary naturalization after 30 years (years before age 20 count double). The competitor's '183 days' figure is not in the law.
