Risks, limitations, and uncertainty
Notes on changes, conflicts, and limits.
- Investment note (Sept 2026)Published
- AFAB's own site (afab.gov.ph/investment-guide) and repeated third-party summaries describe eligible investment types as business investment in a FAB-registered enterprise, FAB-approved funds, or securities/fixed deposits through FAB-approved partners. In practice, an AFAB press item confirms at least one approved case was funded through iWave Advanced Research Group, Inc., a single FAB-registered fintech enterprise, and two independent 2026 sources (The Wandering Investor, CEOWORLD) describe the current vehicle as non-yielding preferred shares in that company, held 5 years before the capital can be recovered (early withdrawal is penalized and ends the residency). Sources are not fully consistent on whether the $75,000 is a literal bank/fixed deposit or an equity/securities stake; treat as unresolved pending a primary AFAB circular.
