Confirm You Meet a Tech.Pass Criterion
Tech.Pass is for experienced tech professionals and founders. You qualify by meeting one of the Economic Development Board's criteria — a high recent fixed monthly salary, a track record leading a tech company of significant scale, or deep expertise in a tech product. Confirm the current thresholds on the EDB site before applying; amounts are set by EDB and change.
Assemble & Submit to EDB
Unlike the Employment Pass, Tech.Pass is not tied to a sponsoring employer — you apply to the EDB yourself with your salary history, employment record, and evidence of your tech achievements.
EDB Assessment
The EDB reviews your application against the eligibility criteria and issues a decision. Approval is discretionary — meeting a threshold does not guarantee a grant.
Formalities & Issuance
On approval you complete the standard post-approval formalities and the pass is issued, clearing you to live and work in Singapore.
Live & Work Flexibly
Tech.Pass is more flexible than the Employment Pass: holders can start and operate businesses, hold multiple roles, invest, and mentor — without being locked to a single employer. The pass runs for a fixed term, commonly two years.
Renewal / PR Pathway
Renewal is subject to meeting the renewal conditions, such as the economic activity generated during the pass term. Permanent Residence is a separate, competitive application; the legacy research notes a PR pathway opening after roughly three or more years, but PR is discretionary and never guaranteed.
